First day of school book

It's the first day of school.  You've taken attendance and have done the lunch count.  Now WHAT?  I used to struggle with this first activity of the new school year.  I like to do a "Get to know you" activity, but how do I model this?  For many years now, I have started the new school year with a "Who is your teacher?" personalized book to introduce myself to my students.  It's not a fancy book.  It does not delve into my Crossfit obsession or my deep love for my 1996 rockin' red station wagon.  The book gives a few simple details of my life, and my students always enjoy it.  In fact, I print and laminate the book large enough to be a lapbook, and it is usually one of the more popular books in my classroom library.  (To my co-workers and acquaintances - please do not make fun of my self-portraits and the potentially porno ice cream photo.)
